Save around $70 a year on water bills. Single flush toilets are one of the biggest users of water in homes, using 12 litres of drinking water with every flush. By switching to a 4-star dual flush toilet, the average household can save about 30,000 litres of water every year.

Why use water efficient fixtures & appliances?

By replacing your single flush toilet with a dual flush toilet, you can reduce your own water bills and reduce your environmental impacts.

How much can I save?

Modern 4star rated toilets use approximately 4.5 litres for a full flush and 3 litres for a “half” flush, compared to 12 litres or higher for older style single flush toilets. This is estimated to save an average house over 30,000 litres of water a year. With the price of water rising to $2.40 a kilolitre, significant savings can be gained on your water bills.

What is Council offering?

In order to reduce water demand and help protect our unique environment, Eurobodalla Shire Council is currently offering all Council residential water customers a $100 rebate on the purchase and installation of any 4-star or higher toilet suite that replaces a single flush toilet. The program will currently run from 1st November 2009 until 30th of June 2012, at which stage it will be reviewed.

What does 4-star or higher water rating mean?

The Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme introduced mandatory water efficiency labels on a variety of water using fixtures and appliances to encourage consumers to purchase water efficient products, thereby reducing water consumption. The more “stars” the more water efficient the product is. For a list of all “star” rated machines visit Water Rating website or call us.

How do I claim my rebate?

We will ensure you have purchased a system that is eligible for the rebate, install it, provide and assist you with completion of the paperwork. You then post it to the Eurobodalla Shire Council.

Can I get a rebate if I live on a rural property?

Unfortunately not. The Council rebate program is designed to reduce demand on Council’s water supply, and is funded entirely from the annual water rates paid by water customers, and is therefore available to properties connected to the Eurobodalla Shire Council water supply only.

What if I’m renting my house?

This offer is only open to property owners. The Managing Agent of a rental property can claim the rebate on the owner’s behalf, provided prior permission from the owner is given. Tenants are not able to claim the rebate.

Is the rebate available to non residential properties?

No. At this stage, the rebate is only available to residential properties.

Can I get more than 1 rebate?

Generally the offer is limited to 2 rebates per property. However, Council may approve more than 2 in certain circumstances, such as dual or multiple occupancy dwellings and strata title units which have only one water meter. If you want to claim more than 2 rebates, then contact us and we will assist in seeking approval from the council.

What if I don’t receive the water bill for my property (eg strata title units)?

Then you will need to contact the Body Corporate for your building (or whoever receives the water bill) to obtain a copy of the water bill so you can claim the offer.
